Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Select web traffic monitoring tools
   • Identify and analyse the available site-analysis software, according to organisational requirements, and the website architecture
   • Choose and install the most suitable site-analysis software or internet service provider, according to the vendor requirements
   • Identify the required report options, according to organisational requirements and the website architecture
   • Develop a traffic monitoring program
2. Monitor web traffic
   • Specify the required traffic reports, according to information requirements
   • Generate the required traffic reports
   • Analyse the reports, to identify improvements to the server and to site performance
   • Apply forecasting methodologies to predict traffic peaks
3. Make recommendations for improvements
   • Recommend any changes in hardware and software
   • Implement the changes, as directed
   • Continue the traffic monitoring program, as required

Performance Evidence

Evidence of the ability to:

select and install the site-analysis software, or an internet service provider (ISP)

monitor website traffic

generate and analyse traffic reports

recommend and implement changes, as required.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.
